Bernie's Homemade Dog Food - Slow Cooker Pork Recipe (5 days / 10 meals)

Share by URL thumbs up
Instructions
1. Place pork loin in slow cooker 2. Add the groats, chopped carrots, a cored and chopped apple (no skin), and chopped cabbage around the loin. This dish is like a warm hug on a cold day! 3. Add two cups of water, one tablespoon of pumpkin powder, and one tablespoon of coconut oil and cook on high for 4-8 hours, depending on the size of the pork. I cooked mine for 7 hours on high. 4. Remove the pork and place it on the cutting board. Slice it into pieces, add it to a food processor or blender, and then move the processed pork to a large casserole dish or bowl. 5. Peel, core, and chop two apples and set aside. 6. Remove the remaining slow cooker ingredients from the casserole dish and mix, adding the fresh chopped apples. 7. Simplify the process by dividing the dish into freezer-safe zip-top bags or containers and freezing until ready to serve. This step is essential because this recipe has a refrigerator shelf-life of 3 to 4 days, but it will stay fresh in the freezer for up to six months. ***Each serving size is one meal (2 meals a day) for a 55-65-pound adult dog. Our Dog is on a weight loss journey with a goal weight of 55 pounds. ***Please talk with your veterinarian before proceeding with a homemade dog food recipe.
